September is FEMA's National Preparedness Month

National Preparedness Month flyer

National Preparedness Month is an observance each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. This year’s theme, “A Lasting Legacy,” will focus on preparing for disasters to create a lasting legacy for you and your family because the life you’ve built is worth protecting.

The City of Healdsburg will be making emergency preparedness social media posts each Thursday during the month of September in conjunction with FEMA’s September National Preparedness Month. Social media posts will include information about creating a household plan, making an emergency kit, practicing emergency drills, and getting children involved with emergency preparedness.

Community Wildfire Protection Plan

Survey Link for the CWPP

The City of Healdsburg Fire Department is in the process of developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).

This CWPP is an important tool to help us to pursue future funding and fire prevention grants and will act as a guide as we work to make our community more fire safe.

We are asking for your input and feedback to help us set goals and priorities as we develop our CWPP.

  • For customers with electronic billing please email ContactUpdates@healdsburg.gov with updated contact information
  •  Sign up for NIXLE text message alerts by texting 95448 to 888777

August Water Conservation Update

A picture of a lawn conversion

Thank you for your continued efforts to save water during the ongoing drought. As a community, our water consumption was 35% less for the month of July compared to the 2017-2019 average! This is thanks in large part to residents cutting back on outdoor irrigation. We are currently in Stage 2 water restrictions, which allows for three days a week of irrigation (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) during the early morning before 7 am and in the late evening after 8 pm. Find out more about the current water restrictions and resources available here: bit.ly/CoHWaterFAQ.

Free Compost Bins

Compost Bin Flyer

This week, with your utility bill, you should have received a voucher for a free kitchen countertop stainless steel compost bin. The free compost bins are part of an effort to encourage organic waste recycling which is now the law as of January 1, 2022.

Please bring the voucher to Healdsburg City Hall to redeem. The compost bins will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be available while supplies last. Only one bin is allowed per voucher. Thank you for your continued support and efforts to help eliminate organic waste!
