WEATHER UPDATE

weather update

City staff continue to monitor weather forecasts, and the projected levels of the Russian River and Dry Creek (which impact Foss Creek).

Two storms are anticipated this weekend - one on Saturday, and another beginning on Sunday afternoon, continuing through Monday.  A Flood Watch is in effect in Sonoma County beginning Saturday, January 14 at 4 a.m. until Monday, January 16 at 4 p.m.  Maximum projected levels are still not anticipated to reach flood stage in Healdsburg.

Our team will continue to monitor the situation, and will provide updates as needed.  Be sure to follow the City of Healdsburg on Facebook and Instagram for updates.

The City of Healdsburg's sandbag station remains open at the Healdsburg Community Center (1557 Healdsburg Avenue).

Sand and empty bags will be provided, however we recommended you bring:

  • A shovel to fill bags
  • Gloves to protect your hands
  • A helper to assist in filling

For more information on how to fill and use sandbags, visit healdsburg.gov/stormwater, and scroll down to "Resources."

For more information on flooding, visit healdsburg.gov/localhazards.

For questions or concerns regarding minor street flooding, please call our 24/7/365 Emergency Utility Hotline at (707) 431-7000.

For emergencies that pose a threat to life and/or property, always dial 9-1-1.

With the recent inclement weather, donations are needed to assist our partners at Reach for Home to help serve those experiencing homelessness.  Reach for Home operates a Winter Shelter at St Paul's Episcopal Church, and they are in need of socks, tents, and sleeping bags, as many of the belongings of program participants have been soaked, or are in need of replacement.  If you wish to donate, please contact Reach for Home at (707) 433-6161.

WATER SUPPLY + CONSERVATION UPDATE

lake mendocino boat launch

Due to the recent rain, Lake Mendocino is at approximately 120% of its winter target water supply level. This is great news for the reservoirs recovering after reaching historically low levels. Sonoma County, along with the rest of California, still remains in drought conditions though, and State Mandates for Stage 2 (20%) water conservation will continue into 2023.

Here are some ways the City can continue to help you save water:

  • Once the current storms pass, set up a rainwater capture system to capture rain now and use later in the summer for your outdoor plants. Rebates of $0.50 per gallon of storage available.
  • Replace your existing lawn with a drought-tolerant landscape that uses less water. Rebates of $1.00 per square foot are available to Healdsburg water customers.
  • Replace your indoor appliances with more efficient models. Rebates of $75 for front-loading Energy Star® Most Efficient clothes washers and $110 for WaterSense toilets with 0.8 gallons per flush or less.
  • FREE: Check out the Do-It-Yourself Home Energy and Water Savings Toolkit from the Library.
  • If you have not yet, please be sure to turn off your automatic irrigation!
