BIRD BIKES ARE BACK!

bird bikes

Healdsburg's Bird Bike Pilot Program has returned!

Bikeshare e-bikes are built to conveniently cover trips of three to five miles in comfort, and help contribute to cleaner air - and less traffic.  Head to work, run a few errands, or just go for a weekend ride!

Download the app, sign up, choose your payment method, unlock the bike - and start riding.  Bikes are equipped with GPS, and can be located on the app's map.  Pick one up from where it's perched, and then leave it wherever your destination may be - just make sure it's not blocking the public right-of-way.

See a bike that has migrated to a location that’s ruffling feathers?  Please contact Bird Customer Service at 1 (866) 205-2442 so they can work to relocate the bike.

To learn more, or download the app, visit go.bird.co.

IT'S FIX-A-LEAK WEEK!

fix a leak week

Did you know that if a leaky faucet drips once every ten seconds, you can lose about 3/4 of a gallon of water down the drain every day!?

In recognition of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) WaterSense Program’s Fix a Leak Week, the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership is encouraging residents to find and fix leaks by sponsoring the Dye Tab Challenge through March 31, 2023.

Toilet leaks are often silent and can waste hundreds of gallons of water per day, making the toilet the number one cause for a high-water bill. That is why it is important to test your toilet annually for leaks, or anytime you hear water running or experience ghost flushes (when a toilet refills on its own without being flushed) that might indicate a toilet leak.

Click here to take the dye tab challenge - and fix that leak to save water.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAMS + REBATES

energy rebates

In 2022, City of Healdsburg energy efficiency programs helped customers save 180 Megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity. That’s enough electricity to power 17 average U.S. homes for a year!

Over their lifetime, the projects from 2022 will save 2,388 MWh, 21,086 natural gas therms, and 861 greenhouse gas tons.

Most of the 2022 savings (93%) came from commercial projects switching large warehouse lighting to LEDs. The remaining savings came from residential (6%) and low-income residential (1%) programs, including heat pump HVAC systems, smart thermostats, appliance upgrades, increased insulation, and more.

In 2023, our goal is 353 MWh. City Council recently approved new commercial and residential energy programs, such as heat pump water heaters, switching to electric stoves, commercial kitchen equipment, and more. The new rebate forms are available at smartlivinghealdsburg.org. As a Publicly Owned Utility (POU), City of Healdsburg looks forward to continuing to serve the community with energy efficiency programs.

The POU Energy Efficiency Report is available online here. Healdsburg specific information is available on pages A-76 to A-82.
