Description:
The Grove Street Complete Streets Project will reduce the existing 12-foot travel lanes to 11-foot and add curb, gutter and sidewalk where none exists between Grant Street and Dry Creek Road. The typical sidewalks will be 6-ft and separated from the roadway by a 5-ft planting strip. Where constrained by existing features or topography sidewalk and planting strip widths will vary. On street parallel parking will be provided at select location in conjunction with traffic lane shifts (chicanes) intended to reduce traffic speeds. Grove Street will become a Class 3 bike route from Grant Street to the Foss Creek Pathway and continue north to Dry Creek Road as Class 2 bike lanes. At the intersection with the Foss Creek Pathway the project will install a raised crosswalk and flashing beacons. The project will improve the existing bus stops and install street trees along the corridor.
In advance of the roadway improvements, a separate City Electric project, Underground Grove Street, will convert the overhead electrical and communications wires and equipment to underground. All overhead wires and associated poles will be removed. Streetlights currently mounted on wood poles will be removed and replaced with decorative streetlights. Additional decorative streetlighting will be added to meet the lighting standard requirement for the street classification.
