November 9, 2025: A Call for Artists!
Twenty years of planning are culminating with the imminent completion of the Foley Family Community Pavilion in the historic Cerri building in downtown Healdsburg. The Foley Family Community Pavilion project repurposes a former cannery and fruit and nut distribution warehouse that served the region for nearly a century. Its an iconic building that remains one of the last examples of the importance of agriculture to the region. The re-envisioned Community Pavilion will be the new home of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market, a location for the City and local organizations to hold events, and a cool spot for the public to relax on a summer day. Now it’s time to add some finishing touches … including bespoke artwork.
The City of Healdsburg - through its Arts and Culture Commission - is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to find the right artist to create a public art installation for the new Pavilion. We are looking for an artist who can create a 2D or 3D artwork that reflects and celebrates the local community and its agricultural history and traditions. The installation should be integrated with the site, increase awareness of historical importance of agriculture to the area, celebrate our community, and may also be functional in the new space. The art form should be visual but may be expressed in any medium including painting, photography, sculpture, technology, etc. The project budget is $45,000.
The artist selection process will involve two phases:
- Phase 1 is the Request for Qualifications process where artists are encourage to submit their qualifications to produce public art that would be appropriate for the project. (More details about the RFQ process are available via the link below.)
- A committee will review artist qualifications and select a limited number of artists (+/- five) to move into Phase 2 where the selected artists will be asked to submit their art proposal. Artists who move into Phase 2 will be provided a $1,000 stipend for their efforts.
Deadline for submitting qualifications is December 3, 2025. If you think you might be the right artist for this project, please read the Request for Qualifications/Call for Artists information below, then get your application started today by completing the online form with your qualifications.
